Deputy Garza is a 2007 graduate of Sam Houston State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She completed her internship with the United States Marshals Service through the Centralized Student Career Experience Program in Houston, TX, her last semester as an undergraduate student.
Upon graduating from Sam Houston State University, she accepted a position as Deputy United States Marshal with the U.S. Department of Justice. After four months at the USMS Training Academy in Glynco, GA, training as a Criminal Investigator and a Deputy U.S. Marshal, she reported for duty in McAllen, TX.
As a DUSM, Deputy Garza participates in high-profile protective details, fugitive investigations, execution of court orders, providing security for federal court proceedings, processing prisoners remanded to USMS custody, high-threat major trials, and the transportation and security of USMS detainees. In March 2009, Deputy Garza transferred from the valley to the Houston office where she is currently assigned.
In August of 2009, Deputy Garza decided to continue her education at SHSU and began attending classes as a graduate student. She is pursuing her Master of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership & Management with the Weekend Program.
