Debi Smith-Edge is the Manager of Counseling and Sexual Assault Services for the Montgomery County Women's Center (MCWC). In managing the counseling staff, her goals are to promote best practices in the field and offer a continuum of advocacy services.
Prior to accepting her current position, she served as the Sexual Assault Program Specialist—providing victims with hospital and court accompaniment, case management assistance, and counseling referrals. She trained and supervised volunteers and participated in the on-going development of a Sexual Assault Response Team.
For two years, she worked as a resident advocate at the MCWC shelter and was previously employed by the Women's Center of East Texas as a legal advocate. For ten years, she worked for the Burke Center as the Director of Adult Substance Abuse Treatment Programs. While on the clinical development team, she established both a co-ed, inpatient treatment program and a six-month residential facility. She taught substance abuse coursework at Angelina Junior College and served on Congressman Charles Wilson’s Crime Bill Task force.
