Philip Dupuis is a 25-year veteran of the Conroe Police Department and was recently appointed Chief of Police. He graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1981 and then moved to Huntsville, Texas, where he attended Sam Houston State University. While at SHSU he began working for the University Police Department as a dispatcher. In 1983 he went to work for the City of Panorama Village as police officer, and in 1984 moved to Conroe and joined the Conroe Police Department.
Since beginning his career with Conroe PD, Mr. Dupuis has worked in patrol, CID, training, and community services. He was also a member of the SWAT team for over 15 years, 13 of which he served as a team leader. In 1990 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and in 2003 he became Deputy Chief of Police. In June 2009, Mr. Dupuis was again promoted to Interim Police Chief, and on October 8, 2009, he was officially selected as the Chief of Police for Conroe, Texas.
As Conroe Chief of Police, Mr. Dupuis oversees 106 sworn officers, 33 civilian employees, and numerous reserve police officers and volunteers. The department serves a population of over 53,000 residents and covers 54 square miles.
