Franklin Appointed “Voice for Victims” at the Crime Victims’ Institute

Cortney Franklin will study victim issues and report to advocacy groups and the state legislature as head of the Crime Victims’ Institute.

Cortney Franklin was appointed Director of the Crime Victims’ Institute (CVI) at Sam Houston State University, a research center that studies the impact of crime on victims and society and makes policy recommendations to the Texas Legislature and advocacy groups.

Alumnus Travels the World Fighting Drugs

Timothy A. Jones of the Drug Enforcement Administration traveled the world to stop the spread of drugs.

Timothy A. Jones (’79) received a degree in Agriculture from Sam Houston State University (SHSU), but he did not wind up as a rancher or agriculture teacher as he expected. Instead, his career turned to law enforcement and tracking money, drugs, and crime across the world.
